Semaglutide was originally used as a prescription medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of drugs known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. However, studies have shown that it helps with weight loss.

Semaglutides are typically administered as a subcutaneous injection (an injection under the skin) and is usually given once a week.

How long medical weight loss results from Ozempic (Semaglutide) last depend on many factors, which are discussed at your appointment with our provider. 

Your initial consultation may last as long as 45 minutes, but the following appointments for medical weight loss injections are very short and tend to be less than 15 minutes long.
